The National Cathedral in Washington DC is full of incredible architecture with gardens surrounding it. It’s free to enter the National Cathedral and you’ll be greeted with stunning ceilings inside. Construction of the Cathedral started in 1907 and took nearly 80 years for the “final finial” to be placed in 1990.

You can easily spend an hour or two exploring the grounds of the National Cathedral. You’ll often see photographers taking engagement photos and tourists exploring the gardens. The area around the Cathedral is great for portraits but of course the architecture is incredible to capture as well.
